Back in business ...

Yep, LEM286 is now happily behind us and I have about 7 TB´s of stuff to go through ... in all I have to say that conditions to Asia (Japan and Korea in particular) and Spain, which were one of my main targets this time, were disappointments. However, I can´t complain about the NA-conditions ... not much anyway ... well, maybe the first week was little too challenging ... but we had nice openings to places like Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Minnesota, South Dakota, Eastern "ylämummo" etc ... lots of new catches that I already know and hopefully many more on that 7 TB signal-storage.

Only one QSL came during LEM286; Shaanxi PBS, Xianyang 693 AM replied with Chinese e-mail ...

LEM286

It´s time for the annual LURX DX-pedition to Lemmenjoki, which will start tomorrow. First about 1.000 kilometers north by train and then +200 kilometers further by car. Everything seems to be in order for excellent adventure - once again! You can follow the news (and other stuff) from LEM286 at

http://lem286.blogspot.com/

The site will be updated daily. And more often when we get tired ...

Other than that; Wuxi PBS kept their promise - I received nice snail-mail-letter yesterday verifying my reception of their broadcast. Well done!

Wuxi RGD

Oh yes, I forgot that some days ago I also received nice e-mail reply from Wuxi RGD, Wuxi - 1161 AM. They also promised to send a snail-mail letter, so we´ll see if it comes through.

Radio Vocea Sperantei

Preparations for LEM286 is well on their way. Everything seems ok so far! There will be a blog for LEM286 this year also - I will inform about the webaddress here later on as the launch date comes closer. The pedition will be held between 28th of November and 12th of December.

Only one QSL since last message; Radio Vocea Sperantei - 1602 AM from Romania verified with nice letter, stickers, AWR-pennants etc. This was one station I didn´t know existing before I heard it on LEM264.

Mail from Spain

I sent my LEM264 -reports to Spain only by snail-mail as I was hoping to get replies that way, but then I got frustrated as even after follow-ups some stations still ignored my letters. So, I striked by e-mail and got some QSLs;

RNE-1 Aragón, Zaragoza - 639 AM,
RNE-1 Andalucia, Málaga - 729 AM,
COPE Badajoz - 1269 AM.

Especially that QSL from Zaragoza was truly mind-warming as the director had kindly searched from their archives that very same regional break I heard over a year ago and kindly send it to me as mp3-attachment so that I can listen to it with a bit better audio quality. Besides that it was of course a very nice confirmation to my reception as the program clip that I recorded really was the same they broadcasted :o) !!!

I´m also very pleased of that Málaga -QSL because both of those RNE-1 stations are truly rare and nice catches here in Finland! And of course, I have been sending reports to COPE Badajoz since late 1990´s so it was very nice to get that reception too finally confirmed ...

After that I have now received 13 QSLs to 16 LEM164 -reports to Spain (81,3 %), which is quite ok.

Also received yesterday one really nice QSL from Japan; JOVR SBS, Shizuoka - 1404 AM with nice letter, QSL-cards and stuff. QSLing Japanese has been a bit disappointing this year as I remember them being almost 100% sure QSLers. LEM264 gave me 12 new reports to Japan and so far only 5 of them has QSLed ... where is this world going ...

Mail from the north ...

Mail from the North Korea this time - Pyongyang BS, Sangwon - 855 AM replied with a card, schedules and brochures.

Planning on next LEM-pedition is well on the way. Last weekend I did some testing with renewed ZETA-program which I use to control NRD-535-receivers and installed Perseus- and timer-programs to my new 2,3GHz laptop. Everything worked very well. LEM286 starts on the 28th of November. There are also some very interesting news conserning LEM286-pedition, but I can´t yet tell any specifics until we are sure all things really happen like planned.

First Indians!

After waiting two months I finally received today first replies to my 21 reception reports to India. I got nice QSL-cards from AIR Delhi - 666 AM and AIR Bikaner - 1395 AM. Both replies came from the headquarters in Delhi even though the reports were sent directly to local stations.

Really nice surprise was also to receive an e-mail today from the regional chief of the regional broadcasting station of Radio Nepal in Surkhet (576 AM). I got a QSL-card earlier from the HQ of Radio Nepal in Kathmandu, but I also sent the report to their regional station in Surkhet directly and I was hoping to get a direct reply. And luckily I got it!

More ...

Two really nice QSL´s today;

SER Radio Cádiz, Cádiz - 990 AM with short e-mail-reply. This was my 46th SER-QSL leaving now Radio Mallorca the last non-QSLed SER-station. Shame on them! And then there is also Radio Melilla which I haven´t yet managed to hear.

Tien Sheng BC, Pengshan - 1215 AM was the other one today. Nice!

Long time, no QSL´s ...

Just kidding ... I´ve been very busy with my work, so haven´t had chance to update. But here it is - the latest QSL´s;

WLAA Winter Garden FL - 1680 AM.
RSPD Ruteng, Manggarai - 2960 kHz surprisingly replied to snail report - no v/s, sorry!

Also received registered letter with just calendar and brochures from Radio Grad Petrov - 1323, but no QSL.

RSPD Ruteng was my 26th Indonesian QSL and 200th QSL this year!

Again ...

Two letters today also; a letter from Galei Zahal, Rosh-pina - 1305 AM and from Voice of Kuanghua confirming my reception on 711 AM (Hsinfeng) and 801 AM (Kuanyin).

More Asians ...

Today I got two very nice snail-mail-QSL´s;

First one was from South Korea. The Gangneung office of KBS confirmed my reception of their relay stations HLCS KBS Yangyang - 1008 AM and HLCI KBS Samcheok - 1044 AM.

Second one came from China - a registered letter from Jiangsu Financial BS, Nanjing - 1206 AM.

Despite these nice replies I have got the last couple of days it is becoming evident that reply percentages are staying worryingly low - China has now 15 % and South Korea 32 % and my reports have been on their way already well over a month. Should I be worried?

More ...

Yesterday I got a registered letter from Langfang PBS, Langfang - 585 AM. As the letter is totally in Chinese it´s for me impossible to say whether they are confirming the reception, but as the clip I sent them was exceptionally good, I´d say yes. I need to get this letter translated in the near future ... hearing Langfang PBS was definately one of the Chinese highlights of my LEM264 -pedition!

Hopefully more good news will follow later today!

Chinese day

Today I got two really nice snail-mail-replies - both from China;

Jiangxi PBS, Nanchang - 729 AM replied with a letter and two postcards. The other reply came from Xinjiang PBS confirming my reception of their transmitters in Urumqi (558, 738 and 1107 AM), Hotan (684 AM) and Kashi (1143 AM).

So finally some replies from China pouring in!
